A Great Blog Does Guidebooks
We're big fans of PSFK the website, so we'll be pretty excited to check out their new print book: PSFK Snapshot—San Francisco. The book presents their selection of what's inspiring in the city, with "details of unique and innovative businesses, events, organizations and ideas." We're guessing this would be useful to visitors and residents alike.
To get a feel for the contents, check out this report on the Bay Area's Ghetto Gourmet, a pirate dinner party community.

Great coverage of San Fran
As I'm visiting SF this fall, I've got one of these books and it's really quite good. Another find recently is the new Ecoescape handbooks that cover the UK and now France.
I really like these alternative guidebooks, they provide a nice counterpoint to the mass market hysteria of the likes of Lonely Planet.
