Hungry For A Month
Morgan Spurlock might have eaten McDonald's for 30 days, but he doesn't really hold a candle to Evan who recently completed his blog "Hungry For A Month." He spent $30 on food. All month. $1 a day. What did he eat?
"Rice and ramen. Both are ridiculously cheap. Neither are particularly tasty. I was please to find some off brand peanut butter and jelly for just over $1 each. I figured that if I paired that with a $1 loaf of bread, I could have some cheap sandwiches. All said and done, a PB&J costs about $.35 to make; maybe a little less if you go light on the peanut butter."

Eating well on a buck a day
This sounds to me like the months when I save up for 29 days so that I can have dinner at Le Bernardin.
But seriously I think that you could eat very nutritiously by buying things like eggs, rice and vegetables in bulk. Those things all last relatively long and vegetables can be frozen. If you get a little creative you might even be able to whip up someting palatable.

Granola man
I once heard of a man who lived off granola for a year.
