ISSUE:

The World Health Organization has called malaria “public health enemy #1.” Bill Gates calls it “the worst thing on the planet.” They’re right. The world has known how to beat malaria for more than a century, yet it remains the number one killer of children under five in Africa, claiming more than 1 million lives a year. That’s one child every 30 seconds dying from a completely preventable and treatable disease.

IDEA:

Malaria No More’s mission is simple: to end deaths due to malaria. They work to raise the profile of the disease among three key audiences—the public, policymakers, and the businesses community—while engaging the private sector to provide life-saving bed nets to families in Africa. Together, these investments can eradicate the disease for good.

IMPACT:

In 2007, Malaria No More and its partners delivered 2.5 million insecticide-treated bed nets to vulnerable populations in five African countries. Through high profile partnerships with pop culture and media elite, Malaria No More is helping to put the issue in front of tens of millions of American—many of whom are learning about it for the first time.
