Internet Porn
The Lucrative Business of Online Sex
The sordid relationship between the internet and pornography is a storied one. It's a kinship that inpires thoughts of locked doors and closed blinds, the secret fulfillment of shameful lusts. That, and it makes a hell of a lot of money.
With the latest edition to our video library, GOOD investigates the ins and outs of online porn traffic, and just how much cash those sweaty-palmed clicks are bringing in.

EVs, Penthouse & XXX
cute little chunk of porn... that's sweet... because imagine, if porn could do for marketing green products what porn did for the internet... imagine if every porn star in Los Angeles sat their cheeky derriere behind the wheel of an electric car? The green community has failed to reach out to the largest demographic out there... left the adult industry out of the green loop, while all the architects on the planet can't out green each other enough, XXX is still off limits to goody-two-shoes green markets... isn't that silly? if love makes the world go round, sex sure as ELLE keeps it going on... we all gravitate towards our lower chakra... love the video clip... now let's use the info to go green the adult industry, start by putting Penthouse magazine on recycled paper stock!

o.O
i come from a family that was literally torn apart by internet pornography, and have two romantic relationships in my past that were incredibly abusive/horribly ended by internet porn. so, let that preface what i am about to say, i suppose.
i appreciate Good's unbiased and objective view, but i am also hoping that in the issue they cover internet porn in a more negative light than they have here.
also, i was a little disappointed to watch the video and see what is basically pornography being used to talk about pornography. admittedly, very clever and kind of cute, but also a very light take on a serious issue.
i love your magazine and you guys seem great, but i guess when things hit closer to home, i start to feel a little more biased. to me, internet pornography doesn't seem to belong in a category labeled "Good".

Internet Porn is a Tool
I'm tired of the MORAL argument of whether porn is GOOD or BAD. If people willing participate, it's a sport or an art in my opinion and you can enjoy watching it if you keep it in context in your life. Internet porn should be defined as a tool. And like any tool, or hobby, or substance, or habit, it can be abused by the people who use it. If someone is constantly seeking solace in it over interacting with you as a partner, then there is a problem with him/her or you or the relationship that needs to be addressed. If you as a partner in the relationship cannot accept the other's behaviors/tastes you need to talk and make clear what your boundaries/expectations are.
However, there is a POLITICAL aspect to it that people never seem to discuss...MOST people are forced to participate in it due to socio-economic desperation.
People (overwhelmingly female) who are desperately poor, drug addicted, single moms, living in a third world/eastern bloc countrie. I champion people like Jenna Jameson who willingly participate and control their own careers, but people like that are rare.
We still live in such a repressed, giggling, "sneaking around" society when it comes to sex...which is why the ploy of adding that element to a marketing campaign still seems to have an effect. I think we really make too much of a big deal about it anymore. All the controversy and talk just seems to spur on the interest. I think the expectations get raised too high and often sex is just overrated.

Song title?
Hey Don,
I viewed the clip and I thought the music was fabulous.
Is that a song that you produced or you found from elsewhere?
If you produced this, would it be possible to send me a link of the song?
Thanks in advance,
Franky

I am not so sure about the 9-5 hours
That might reflect evening hours in other countries/timezones, and there has to be a huge amount of traffic generated by people in this country, during work hours, dong legitimate work on the pornsites they ownor work on building and maintaining.
I mention this on my blog: Peace, Love and Erica Campbell - Internet Porn
I have done porn-related internet work since 2000, when the internet bubble burst and I was stuck having internet skills and no obvious way to make the money I had gotten used to.
Now I do politics, mostly, which is a kind of porn for the hopeful and civic minded - ts all tease, and you never get what the Pols promise you... no matter ho much you pay or how hopeful you are when you cast your vote.

"This video is no longer available."
What did YouTube say to you in the take-down notification? Is there anywhere else where I can see this again?

Mortified!
I cannot believe that I just sent GOOD magazine to my children's teachers as a gift subscription! I had no sooner clicked the purchase button, than come upon this. I am completely mortified that this is what they will primarily see when they visit this site for the first time. I wish I could take it back!! Given the thousands upon thousands of families ripped apart by porn addiction, I do not consider this video posting "good" for society at all, and am embarrassed to have been a contributor of it in my children's teacher's names. Shame on me for thinking a magazine and site dedicated to doing "good" and donating to "good" causes would consider this article in the same league as "good". Next time I will do thourough research before I make a snap judgement. Lesson certainly learned!

Help me, please
I have a question. How is it that modern day progressives seem to be turning such a blind eye to the sad, depraved phenomena that is internet pornography? I am having a hard time understanding how people can post all sorts of comical, light hearted responses to this feature while ignoring the sad reality that this industry has become. Maybe it does exhibit some traces of "art,' but art in the historic sense that featred nude models was hardly a multi billion dollar industry that preyed on the socially desperate, alienated, and poor like this one does. "aliceinreality" posted something I hope we can all think about. This stuff ruins lives, confuses people, and fosters violence, gendered sterotypes, and twisted sexuality.
So what I need to understand is how a magazine where most of its readers (I presume) speak out against sweat shops in China and environmental destruction can also be so permissive when it comes to something like pornography? How is it that 'progressive thinking' in this country has become so confused with moral and ethical depravity? Now I know there are a lot of issue at stake in my last statement, but this one thing alone. How can internet porn in any way serve a good, admirable place in a society we hope to improve?
I guess I just long for the days when it seemed like liberals stood for something (e.g. Tipper Gore speaking out against the record industry and pusing for censorship laws), and were not afraid to address just how confused and perverse something like this is.
How about this post? "People (overwhelmingly female) who are desperately poor, drug addicted, single moms, living in a third world/eastern bloc countries. I champion people like Jenna Jameson who willingly participate and control their own careers, but people like that are rare."
What the heck is this all about? How do you sleep at night holding this opinion? How can you live with such a wicked contradiction? Who care about Jenna Jameson? What about the single moms and people in third world countries? These are the people pornography hurts the most! You can't ignore this just because a small pocket of the porn world does it voluntarily.
You want to do "good" in this world, give up on your lax morality and look at the things that are hurting individuals and families. Just because you are not affected is hardly an excuse. This stuff hurts people.
So again, help me. I guess my concern is more ideological than anything. How does a magazine like this and its so-called do-good readers tolerate something like internet porn? To those who have had a similar reaction as me, let me know what you think. But to those who disagree, let me know too.

Women do Good
Thanks for educating me not to subscribe to yet another male-oriented media that does not have a clue about women and how porn harms women. I will give my money to good causes such as these instead where women are treated as if we actually matter:
Feminist Majority Foundation
Equality Now
I hope other women are inspired to give to women's organizations which all do good:
Global List of Women's Organisations
Rock on women! We are not your "whores" and "sluts".
