How to Read the Psyche of a Do-Goodin' Gun-Lover

response to  atleykins's post guns

Thank you atleykins for your simple yet eloquently stated opinion on guns. Its not enough to know your position or sincerity ... nor enough to argue a point. Therefore it leaves us to imagine, to dream ... which is a good thing yes? So in an effort to comprehend such a poetic statement, I look to dreams themselves for some answers.

So I did some searches on the world wide web and got some interesting conclusions. According to DreamMoods.com, "a gun can represent the penis and male sexual drive. Thus the gun may mean power and impotence." This seemed a bit too ... hmmm, obviously stupid (can I say that?) In this context, then I guess a wound is the female genitalia - helpless, reactionary, gushing in response to the actions of the penis and ultimately injurying or even killing the victim.

At predictions.astrology.com/dd we also have a dream dictionary with even more two-bit psychoanalysis. It offers us a more rational perspective - "Dreaming about guns and interpreting these dreams depends greatly on your attitude about guns." Ah, thank you master! So whether you are comfortable with guns or in awe of their fearsomeness, the symbol of it can mean many things from personal powerlessness or the taboo. The article goes on to say that its all about context so watch for the details. Ain't it always like that ...

My favorate interp from the dream dictionary was this, "The gun may represent a nearly desperate need to reassert personal control in the situation or to find personal power in relationship to others."

Though this doesn't help us understand atleykins simple yet cryptic message, it does open up many doors of conversations we all like to discuss - sex and power.

LOL
