Living in Southern Africa, there is a good chance that I've seen some areas of rural isolation which other people have not been exposed to. South Africa has access to more resources than some of our neighbouring countries, and when I lived and worked in Botswana it was incredible to see the time and effort that went into the most routine doctor's check-up. Many of the women that worked at the lodge which I was based at, lost their newborn babies - because when your baby gets sick and you don't have immediate transport to get to a hospital, then there is a good chance that baby will die. Botswana has great medical services, and I speak under correction, but I believe its free for the locals. But having Doctors that can come around on a weekly basis on motorbikes will provide all the people with an even greater chance at raising healthy children!!
Thank you for reaching out to these wonderful people of Africa! If you have not yet been to Africa, then you are missing out on meeting some of the most dinamic people in this world of ours.
Thank you for helping my fellow Africans.
