Do the Right Thing Don't Smoke on the Streets
response to Scott Stowell's post Project 002
If you are going to smoke think about all the people you are going to smoke on. How many people will you wave your smoke in their face, throw your cigarette on their shoes, or actually burn them as you fling the cigarette in grand sweeps from mouth to hip. Stylish? Not. Change this!

Do you consider?????????
So Trendy just where do you think it's ok to smoke? I suppose you will say nowhere because smoking is unhealthy, obnoxious and harmful to non-smokers. So let me ask you are you equally against drinking, speeding, aggression, war, spitting, and spreading germs on everyoneelse? Do you drive an electric or hybred car. Shop for food once a week, give large tips to wait staff when dining out. Are you for or against birth control, abortion, the draft. Where are you on overpopulation thegreatest threat to us all on this planet short of the sun blowing up.
I'm sure there are rude smokers who smoke in crowds and that is wrong. Before we start a civil war all I'm asking is that we all need to clean up our minds about other people's lives. This is still a free country I believe.

Tolerance please
I'm have to agree with pviel:
"we all need to clean up our minds about other people's lives"
This world needs more tolerance. Not more people passing I'm-right-you're-wrong judgements. It's ok, we all fall into the trap sometimes. Just think about it. :)

From a Former Smoker
As someone who quit smoking 6 months ago and just watched my beloved city jump on the smoking ban bandwagon I have to agree with the previous two comments. Yes, second hand smoke is not healthy, but I would argue that you inhale 10 times the toxic chemicals in daily traffic on the freeway than you do during short term second hand smoke exposure. The greater issue for me is the legislation that becomes attached and the lack of tolerance that we have for one another. Regardless of where you stand on any issue, once we allow the government to begin determining what is and isn't acceptable for the individual we have opened Pandora's Box.

CHOOSE to Stay Healthy
Exactly! Pay more attention to other people's lives. Don't harm the health of others by exposing them to second-hand smoke – a proven killer.
The fact that people still choose to smoke while knowing the health risks is baffling. We are all armed with the knowledge of how to stay healthy, yet folks still CHOOSE to slowly kill themselves via cigarettes.
The entire nation freaks out when told that E. coli found in spinach can and does kill... and since E. coli can cause an immediate death, everyone stops buying spinach. Smokers, however, know full well they can die from smoking, but since it doesn't cause an immediate death, they continue to buy cigarettes. Doesn't seem logical.

I tried
Smoke free for over a year now and remember always trying to be courteous to those around me. Hell, I even knew how to place my butts in an ashtray and you know, it wasn't that hard.
