response to  Steve Kettmann and Jeff Minton's post Education Equalizer

first off, charter schools do amazing things, i could not love them more and i think they create people who LOVE to learn and who leave school aching for more, instead of leaving school happy to never return.

but why do we never look at the fact of WHY we need them?

so why do we... because we have left public schools to rot. we really have just given up on them. we need to loosen these restrictions, since these charter schools work so well. every damn school should be like a charter school, full of experiential learning opportunities, full of teachers who yearn to learn from their students as much as their students yearn to learn from them.

it's a simple solution.
don't create new schools. turn the old into what the new is and you've solved the problem.
