Working 12 hour night shifts to make his dream happen

response to  Rudy Adler's post Project 004

My boyfriend and I are both 28, and have been working our way through school. We had a wonderful year here together in Seattle, but now he's in Kentucky and I will soon be in Pennsylvania so we can pursue our PhD's in our respective programs.

He took the Greyhound to Kentucky, lives in an apartment that is less than clean/ideal/safe?, sleeps on an air mattress, and has no pots/pans or dishes. He's working 12 hour shifts driving a cab at night, and that doesn't leave much time for anything beyond working and sleeping.

He has seen me through so much, including tutoring me on my math for my GREs, picking me up when I worked until midnight, being a shoulder to cry on, and getting me through graduate school applications and interviews.

I'd be so grateful if you considered sending him some things that could make his house more of a home:

- a pot for cooking
- a skillet
- some dishes and glasses
- and maybe even an inexpensive microwave

Thanks for thinking of him. He's a good man, he's working like crazy to make his life what he wants it to be, and we're both lonely and missing each other.
