    There is hope

Through education there is hope. If Americans can be shown all the things they discarded when they turned their backs on the Constitution, there is hope for a full recovery.

If and when that happens, of course, the battle will resume immediately.

"The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground." --Thomas Jefferson

    Exiting Empire

David Mamet has not become less concerned with the world's problems; he's come to the realization that the best way for us to help the world is to live up to our own ideals.

Contrary to the ideas advocated by the current line-up of presidential candidates, both liberal and conservative, government is not the answer. Regardless of whether a Democrat or a Republican takes office, little will actually change.

Both sides will expand government power, over-extend themselves in pursuit of empire, temporarily appease voters by offering entitlements they cannot deliver, and in the process continue to debase our currency, our wealth and our potential.

Change will come when we alter our thinking and rediscover the Constitution and our founding principles. Only then will we be of any help to others.

It's not David Mamet, but the rest of the world that has given up. They are no longer hoping we’ll come to our senses; they are beginning to move on.

response to  Max Joseph, Chris Weller, Eve Marson, and Alan Wilkis's post John McCain

    False Choices

Barack Obama, in response to being called weak on foreign policy, repeated his plan to strike al Qaeda targets in the Peshawar region of Pakistan.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSN0132206420070801

John McCain responded by claiming it was a sign of Obama’s inexperience to broadcast strategic plans for taking out terrorists in northern Pakistan. Note that McCain did not disagree with the plan, only with the fact that Senator Obama was announcing it publicly.

A few months ago, Nancy Pelosi led a congressional delegation to Pakistan and Afghanistan to persuade them to work together on routing Taliban forces straddling their borders. Shortly thereafter, Dick Cheney threatened to cut off military aid if they failed to do what Pelosi and her delegation proposed.

Democrats and Republicans are advocating exactly the same US foreign policy that led to the attacks on 9/11, and which will lead to further attacks and further US isolation.

The Pashtun people who occupy the Peshawar region between Pakistan and Afghanistan have lived there for centuries, and have little regard for the government’s of Pakistan, Afghanistan, or the United States. Military might does not scare the Pashtun, who defeated the Soviet Union and will defeat us if we’re foolish enough to challenge them.

Despite the rhetoric coming from Democrat and Republican campaigns, nothing is going to change until Americans reject the false choices presented to them by these two parties.

    Outstanding Piece

I've directed several of my posts on various blogs to this article. Until Americans understand the world we actually live in, as opposed to the world our politicians and mainstream media have presented to us, we are doomed to repeat our mistakes. Mistakes that further isolate us from the world, motivate those who hate us, and add immeasurably to our decline.
