I love lists, but it's hard to agree that anyone (or any committee) has a monopoly on what goes into a canon. Any experienced movie-watcher who's seen the AFI list knows exactly what I mean.

As in High Fidelity, I find lists most useful for conversation and as a path toward new media. One of my favorite things about that movie/book is imagining my lists in comparison with Rob's, Dick's, and Barry's.
