what a coincidence

response to  GOOD magazine's post Project 009: Lentil Soup

someone asked what a dutch oven is... made me laugh a bit. it's made of cast iron; they're usually black and as heavy as the weight i bench pressed to secure the gold at last saturday's challenge in Montreal, Canada.

anyway, the recipe is good and i'll tell ya why. IT'S SIMPLE! for anyone who hasn't stripped a dish down to "just what it needs to get by" you need to or you haven't REALLY cooked. that's how you learn food. that's how you learn "what works, what doesn't". plus, you have the intimate opportunity to engage in a relationship with food itself - not beaten up by the sloppy hand of someone who's made a dish for the tongue and not the body - so enjoy it. in honor of this dish i should submit my rock and potato soup recipe that uses a special kind of stone from the sea or cortez. the stone (that shall remain nameless) has a rare mineral that allows a person to control their dreams and take trips back in time. (kidding)

Sweet.
