You might get the sense from this article that The Bad Plus are some cutrate sellouts. Nothing could be further from the truth. These guys are sharp musicians who honor the soul of jazz while pushing it into the 21st century. They're my "band of choice" as far as jazz goes, although there are plenty of groups out there that go unmentioned in the article playing great, relevant jazz today.
