Bueno de Mesquita's suggestion on the Middle East
The accuracy and crudeness of the analyses which result of the mathematical approach to social phenomena are only rivaled by the sense of wonder they cause on us untrained readers, exactly because it is possible to hint at their consistency, even without understanding how conclusions came up. Still, the assumptions from which the reasoning begins are chosen by scientists, and for that one has to rely on opinion, at least in part. So, there is space for "ideologists", I guess, or perhaps social scientists will retain this characteristic in their education, even if rational choice-oriented. As for the Israeli-Palestinian suggestion, I wonder who should make a first move towards the sharing of tourism revenues, and what is the role of the media in spreading news about policy results on violence, good or bad? Great piece.
