response to  jbeezz's post Less Taxes?

No one HAS to go to war.

I come from an "upper class" family, and I am in the Army, and a lot of my friends come from the lower class. Who cares? Running around the Civilian world, some people respect what I say because of my car, but that is stupid. That's what I like about the military. Money doesn't matter. At all. So, don't run around saying that the military is only "poor people" because A) It's not true B) It doesn't matter. We are brave and Strong enough to serve, so where does money come in to play there?
As for college, I saw people at school who's families were well below the poverty level, were offered full rides into respectable schools. Where your life goes is YOUR decision. If someone WANTS to go to school, then they can. Yes, they might have to pay it off for quite a while, but they can still go. Saying that college is simply too unafforable is the most wretched excuse I have ever heard. You could even go to a community college, cheap and get a lot of the credits completed which will reduce your price for a more respected school, not that a community college isn't respected, a degree is a degree.
As for you saying ". The rich kids don't have to go because their daddies can afford to send them to college so that THEY can learn how to be the ruling class." Please, tell me, who, right now is FORCED into the military. No one HAD to go. There is no draft right now, so quit whining about the rich because you're jealous and bitter. If you aren't monetarily successful, it is your OWN fault, don't blame it on anyone else but yourself, certainly not the rich. They haven't done ANYTHING to you, and we certainly aren't a "Ruling" class. So. knock the bitterness shit off, and go get a real job, and shut the hell up.
Furthermore, I do hope you weren't serious about that last statement, don't you even DARE bring up his POW status against him. That is a horrible, horrible thing to say, and brings your credibility to an all time low, and I DO hope, you were being sarcastic, about him being 294th out of 299, and him being stupid. I'm not sure if you can do the math. That makes him number 5 in a class of two hundred and ninety-nine. I figured I'd spell it out for you, just in case you couldn't read big numbers like 299. That is actually quite an impressive rank, and I'm sure you wouldn't even come slightly close to that number. This is proven by your lack of grounded arguments, just you looking for reasons to bitch and moan. As I suggested before, go get a real job, and maybe a life, it might help your intellect just a little bit more, and perhaps a book or two?

response to  appleblush's post Blah, blah, war, blah...

    So Judgmental!!!!

Okay, for those of you referring to each other as "Uniformed Jackasses," if you aren't in the military, then QUIT!!!!
Yes, we DO need to give funds to the military, otherwise, we, the soldiers that are doing the fighting will be stuck with outdated, ineffective equipment, which could cost us even MORE lives. Is that really what we want? I have already lost quite a few friends, I don't really care to bury anymore, or have myself be buried.
Let's get real about this war. We can't just say goodbye and just peace out. They are just now starting to get stable as a military, and a government, so we need to finish what we started, if we pull out, and the government collapses, even if a temporary collapse, that will hurt how the world sees us even MORE...and believe me, I've been in Europe in uniform, and we really can't take even more of an international relations drop.
100 Years was more of an exaggeration. We need to stop running around being so critical of people, and taking one phrase from an entire speech to work against them. That's a horrible thing to do to somebody, no one deserves that kind of blatant disrespect, no matter how much you disagree with them. As military, I tend to make my decisions with how it will effect my military career, which makes perfect sense. So, thats why I make it a point to listen to EVERYTHING all the candidates say, because it's my boss, it's going to determine where my life goes, and it could determine if I live or not depending on who the job goes to. So, when you are making these rash judgments, and ripping on John McCain for one sentence, just remember you are screwing with somebody's life.
Now, let's take Barrack Obama, who tells the US, that he wants to bring the troops home, then turns around and tells the Afghani President that he actually wants to take the troops from Iraq, and redeploy them into Afghanistan, and when he goes to Iraq, he doesn't visit with soldiers. Hugely disrespectful. His office is saying that he wanted to, but the pentagon advised him not to, as it would be viewed as a political campaign. Yes, of course it would. That is why he went. I highly doubt he would have any interest in going if he wasn't running for president, and on top of all of that, he is utterly ignoring what the military leaders feel is best for Iraq. That tells me as an American, and a soldier, that He isn't quite mature enough for the position. If he listens, and doesn't agree, that's fine, of course, but ignoring what they say is a different ball game all together, and says a lot about his maturity level, and his readiness for the Job.

Hi friends

We've outgrown this 800-pixel wide website and we're moving to new digs.

While we pack up our things (i.e. articles and videos and stuff), we're shutting down commenting and new registrations on the current site.

Our new site is up and running at GOOD.is/.

Yours,
