Heartbreaking, Poetic, and Important

response to  Lindsay Utz, Sam Slovick, and Stefan Nadelman's post On Skid Row: Kids

Sam always does a great job of letting homeless children in Skid Row and elsewhere tell their own story. No matter what you perceive the situation to be in Skid Row, their perception, their reality is what will affect their development. Thanks for giving the kids a voice, Sam.
Skid Row needs to be a safer place, no doubt. But moving homeless families out and loft families in doesn't solve the bigger problem. According to LAHSA's 2007 Homeless Count, “each night, an estimated 7998 children sleep in locations not suitable for human habitation." I hope that people like Sam will continue to fight to give these kids a voice even if Skid Row becomes Loft Row.
