Yes, the numbers are impressive. But I believe you still have to look at it in its whole context. 55 million dollars of food spent by 90 million viewers only is less than 50 cents per person. 2.7 million dollars for a 30-second commercial is a mere 30 dollars for every thousand people watching it. And as for the car accidents, I doubt that these numbers are actually statistically significant. It's the same thing as those alleged "baby booms" nine months after blackouts: Usually they turn out to be based on figures only based on one hospital; and in a big country like the United States there's always at least one hospital experiencing a baby boom at the moment.
