There was another important decision handed down by the Court today.
In a 5-3 decision (Alito recused), the Court cut the damages awarded in the Exxon Valdez oil spill. What was initially a $5 billion award was cut to $2.5 billion by the Federal Appeals Court in 1994, but the US Supreme Court today cut it to $500 million.
