    response to  gvoien's post well...

    I don't like mandatory titles

But it seems that he is stepping back from his position on the Holocaust. I know he had that whole Holocaust deniers convention and has stated it numerous times. I don't know if he saying that because he knows that the rest of the world believes in it and didn't want to get ridiculed even more or he is actually going to say that there was a Holocaust. I don't know what kind of "research" that he wants to do regarding it. Sure there is more information that we can learn about the Holocaust but none of it is what he wants to hear.

response to  Patrick James's post Ahmadinejad: Speech And Debacle

    Yes

I think him being invited to Columbia was the right thing to do. Freedom of speech and the exchange of ideas (no matter how radical and idiotic they may seem) is one of the crutches of academia. Even if you don't agree with someone they still have a voice. I am in no way saying that he is a good man but he is the head of a nation with major sway in the Arab world.

I also think that denying him access to Ground Zero was ignorant. Since when did the US government decided that its only a place of mourning for Americans? Its an international site of mourning. From what I could tell he only had good intentions for visiting site. I highly doubt he would have gotten there and then spit on it or something along those lines. And if he did I bet a mob of people would have attacked him. We can not keep acting like 9/11 effected just us.

I hope that better relations with Iran will come of this. As someone about to enter the service the last thing I want to do is to go to Iran and fight. I hope Columbia takes him up his offer. As a student right now I would fight tooth and nail to be one of those students that gets to go to Iran to speak to the Universities.

    Media

response to  Patrick James's post Al-Jazeera English: The Image Problem

    Very good video.

Until I watched this I had the typical American view on that Al-Jazeera was a terrorist funded news station. For some reason I believed the hype that the media made about it. But after watching this especially the part when he says that they report it because it is news and not some terrorist sympathy love fest. I do believe that there needs to be more international news. I am sick of Americans only being concerned with news that only directly affects them and not the other billions or so people that live in this world. I wish Al-Jazeera was broadcast more around the country and that this fear of Islam related culture would just die already. Thank you GOOD for opening my eyes.
